A variety of treatments can be used for spider vein removal. Spider veins commonly appear on the face and legs as small thin clusters of blue, red or purple veins, close to the surface of the skin. Sometimes known as telangiectasias, spider veins are connected to the deep venous system however these superficial veins serve no benefit. The result is an internal swelling of the vein, causing it to shut itself down. Once shut down the body eliminates it naturally. Several treatments can be required to remove the veins. Side effects can include redness swelling, bruising, scabs, scarring and skin ulcerations as well as allergic reaction to treatment solutions.
Laser spider vein removal can be done with a number of aesthetic lasers. Lasers use high intensity light energy that can accurately direct this energy at the problem vein. The heated vein swells, pushing the blood out of the vessel. With no blood to supply the vein, the body then breaks down the vessel making it disappear. Intense pulsed light or photo facial, as well as pulse dye and Nd:YAG lasers are very effective in eliminating spider veins, especially facial veins.
